Acharya Shunya
Current Acharya of Sarayu Paramapara
Acharya Shunya is the present spiritual head of Sarayu Parampara and the first woman to formally carry its leadership. She stands in direct continuity with her great-grandfather, Acharya Shanti Prakash, and her grandfather and Guru, Acharya Ayodhya Nath.
Through her, the teachings entrusted by the earlier Acharyas continue through Shastra, satsang, sadhana, discipleship, and seva.

The First Female Acharya of the Lineage
As the first woman to lead Sarayu Parampara, Acharya Shunya brings the fullness of feminine experience into the living expression of the lineage.
She teaches from within the realities of marriage, motherhood, family responsibility, heartbreak, devotion, and service.
Her teachings on Shakti and Devi upasana reveal the feminine as sacred intelligence, spiritual power, discernment, and the capacity to awaken. This feminine expression does not stand apart from Advaita Vedanta. It arises within its vision of the one Self present in all beings.
Keeper of a lived Vedic inheritance
Acharya Shunya carries forward the interconnected vidyas of Vedanta, Yoga, Ayurveda, and Devi upasana. She teaches them not as separate systems, but as streams of knowledge that prepare the seeker for a life rooted in dharma and directed toward moksha.
Her work preserves the depth of these teachings while making them accessible to sincere students living within contemporary conditions.

Teaching From Lived Realization
Acharya Shunya teaches from lived realization, not from inherited knowledge alone.
Her own life has included profound tests, loss, reinvention, and inner turning points that required her to internalize the wisdom she had received.
This honesty gives her teaching unusual directness. She does not present spirituality as perfection or performance. She often reminds students to “be whole, not holy,” inviting seekers to bring their full humanity into the path of awakening.
Shastra Within Grihasta Life
A distinctive expression of Acharya Shunya’s teaching is her insistence that Shastra must illuminate the life actually being lived. Relationship, work, family, grief, responsibility, and joy are not treated as obstacles outside spiritual life.
They become the field in which dharma is practised and knowledge is tested. In this, she continues the Parampara’s householder-sadhu tradition, affirming that profound spiritual realization may unfold within family and worldly responsibility.

Carrying the Sarayu Parampara forward
The Parampara was inherited by Acharya Shunya through birth, received through Baba, tested through loss, realized through inquiry, and carried forward through teaching and service.
Through her, Sarayu Parampara continues as a living stream, rooted in Ayodhya and offered across cultures without surrendering its foundations in Guru, Shastra, satsang, sadhana, and Self-knowledge.
FOUNDER OF VEDIKA GLOBAL
Acharya Shunya founded Vedika Global as a home for the transmission of Ayurveda, Yoga, and Vedanta in the West. Through sustained teaching, study, retreats, and community, these vidyas took root among students from many cultures.
This work prepared the ground for the deeper unfolding of Sarayu Parampara through satsang, long-form study, and the pathway that later became the Vedic Study Circle.

Satsang as the foundation of Vedic training
Regular satsang began within Vedika Global in 2014, bringing students into continuing relationship with Shastra, meditation, mantra, dharma, and the disciplines of spiritual life.
In 2024, this foundation was refined through the Vedic Study Circle, where a committed body of students from twenty-one countries now trains in the four yogas, culminating in Jnana Yoga and Advaita Vedanta.
The Four Yogas as a Living Path
Within Sarayu Parampara, the four yogas form a progressive path of inner preparation. Karma Yoga purifies action, Bhakti Yoga deepens devotion, Upasana Yoga gathers and sanctifies the mind, and Jnana Yoga culminates in the knowledge of the Self revealed by Advaita Vedanta.
Acharya Shunya teaches these pathways as an integrated discipline, guiding students from the life of reaction and identification toward clarity, freedom, and Self-knowledge.

Author in service of the Vidyas
Through her books, Acharya Shunya has carried the wisdom of Ayurveda, Advaita Vedanta, and Devi upasana beyond the immediate circle of students.
Her writings are not separate from the work of the Parampara. They serve as doorways through which seekers may first encounter its vision of the Self, dharma, inner sovereignty, and sacred feminine power.
Reaching across cultures and continents
Acharya Shunya has shared the vidyas of Sarayu Parampara through retreats, conferences, public teachings, podcasts, interviews, and invited presentations in the United States, India, and beyond.

Yet the heart of her work remains the sustained relationship between Guru, Shastra, student, practice, and inner transformation. Public teaching opens the doorway.
The deeper work unfolds through study, contemplation, correction, devotion, and seva.

A Life Shaped by the Parampara
To understand the present Acharya more fully is to see the life through which the Parampara was received, tested, and embodied. Her life journey offers a deeper account of her family, Baba, formative losses, inner turning, and the path by which she came to carry the lineage forward.
