The Sadhvis
of Sarayu Parampara
In Sarayu Parampara, the Vidyas are received from Acharya Shunya, the living Guru and lineage-holder. Around this central source, a small circle of senior disciples has been formed through many years of direct study, sadhana, seva, and lived relationship with the Guru. The title Sadhvi for women and Sadhu for men disciples honors those who have walked closely with Acharya Shunya for more than fifteen years and have given themselves to the discipline, refinement, and inner culture of the parampara.
A Sadhvi is not merely a teacher. She is a dedicated student, a servant of the lineage, a caretaker of the sangha, and one who is being gradually groomed for leadership within the living household of Sarayu Parampara.
The Sadhvis help unfold teachings entrusted to them. They support students in study, practice, reflection, and steadiness. They help hold the atmosphere of the parampara so that the Vidyas may be approached with humility, clarity, and reverence. Their presence also carries the seeds of the next generation, ensuring that what has been received from the Guru is protected, embodied, and passed forward with sincerity. A Sadhvi remains a student first. Her authority flows from continued surrender to the Guru, ongoing study, and faithful service within the lineage.

The title Sadhvi honors a life turned toward sadhana. It reflects dedication, discipline, humility, and long-term formation within the parampara. A Sadhvi remains a student first, continuing to learn, serve, and grow under Acharya Shunya’s guidance.

The First International Sadhvis of Sarayu Parampara
Sadhvi Ishani and Sadhvi Aparna are the first international disciples to be initiated as Sadhvis in Sarayu Parampara. Both have studied directly with Acharya Shunya since 2009 and have shown deep reverence for the parampara, the Guru, and the shastra. Born outside India, they represent an important unfolding in the life of the lineage, where sincere seekers from beyond India have been formed through long study, sadhana, seva, and discipleship.
Though Sadhvi Ishani, originally from California, lives in India now, and Sadhvi Aparna lives in California, their seva is not limited by geography. Each holds her duties from where she is, serving the Guru’s teaching household with steadiness, devotion, and responsibility.
Senior disciples of Acharya Shunya, Sadhvi Ishani and Sadhvi Aparna have both studied within the lineage, directly under Acharya Shunya, since 2009. They support scripture study, student orientation, community care, and the careful holding of sacred learning spaces within Sarayu Parampara.
