SADHVI ISHANI

Senior disciple of Acharya Shunya, Sadhvi Ishani has studied within the parampara since 2009. She supports scripture study, student orientation, community care, and the careful holding of sacred learning spaces within Sarayu Parampara.

A Long Standing Disciple

Sadhvi Ishani is a devoted disciple of Acharya Shunya and one of the first international Sadhvis initiated within Sarayu Parampara. She was ritualistically initiated into the parampara and study directly with Acharya Shunya in 2009, receiving the teachings through long association, disciplined study, sadhana, and seva.

Her journey reflects the path of the grihastha sadhu, the householder whose life is turned toward dharma, devotion, and Self-knowledge while remaining engaged in family and worldly responsibilities. As a mother, author, student, and sevaka of the lineage, Sadhvi Ishani brings steadiness, sincerity, and lived understanding to the spaces she helps hold.

Initiated

as Sadhvi

In recognition of her long-term discipleship, inwardness, devotion, and service, Acharya Shunya initiated Ishani with the title of Sadhvi. Within Sarayu Parampara, this title honors a woman disciple whose life has been deeply shaped by sadhana, Guru-bhakti, shastra, and seva.

As a Sadhvi, Ishani remains a student first. Her role is to support the unfolding of teachings entrusted to her, help nourish the sangha, and serve the Guru’s teaching household with humility and steadiness.

TEACHINGS AND GUIDANCE

Sadhvi Ishani’s guidance arises from the lived path of the grihastha sadhu. She resides in Coimbatore, India, with her husband and their two daughters, and understands that spiritual life does not unfold apart from family, relationship, household responsibilities, and daily duties. Her own life has required the steady integration of sadhana, seva, motherhood, household care, and discipleship.

She supports students in approaching Bhakti Yoga and Karma Yoga not as ideas alone, but as disciplines that can be practiced in the middle of ordinary life. Her teaching emphasizes dignity, inner poise, devotion, selfless action, and the quiet refinement of conduct. She helps students see how the home itself can become a field of dharma, where patience, responsibility, emotional steadiness, and remembrance of the Divine are cultivated day by day.

Through her guidance, students are encouraged to bring spiritual integrity into family life, work, and personal choices, so that the path does not remain separate from life, but begins to illumine it from within.

SERVING FROM INDIA

Sadhvi Ishani continues her study, seva, and teaching work under the guidance of Acharya Shunya while living in Coimbatore, India. Though her service is held from India, her connection to Sarayu Parampara is not limited by geography.

She also supports the work of Vedika Global, the nonprofit organization associated with the Parampara’s teaching mission, through steady behind-the-scenes seva, thoughtful coordination, and trusted responsibility. She remains part of the living household of the lineage, helping carry its values with devotion, discernment, and quiet strength.
